Question by Phil U: why do the hearing aid companies get away with charging such exorbitant prices?
I’ll never believe R&D is that costly. Also, why won’t most major health care providers cover any of the costs other than the test?
I went to a medical eye, ear & nose clinic and before they were through I felt I was being scamed.

The short answer — Because they can! Competition is limited, and people pay the price asked, so they charge what the market will bear.
